Egrets Flowers & More

Great Egret 2

As I approached this Egret standing at the shoreline, I knew that at some point he'd take off, and I'd have one opportunity to catch it. I adjusted my settings in anticipation, and fired off a quick series of shots as it took flight, with two of them fairly crisp and reasonably composed. The yellow-green hue on the birds underside comes from reflected light off the pond. It was amazing how thick the algae was, and it gives the appearance of being a grassy green field, when defocussed by a wide aperture in the above shot. Canon 100-400 at 400 mm, ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/800 second, Center-Weighted Metering, EV +1. AI Servo with CF2=3, Hand-held.
