Butterflies

Banded Orange Heliconian (Dryadula phaetusa) #2 (I.D. courtesy of Danny Burk)

This is the second shot I was able to get of this particular species. Thanks to Danny Burk, for identifying it as the same species shown from the tip in the 3rd image in this gallery. It was a fair ways from the walkway in the Butterfly House, and it was actually hanging upside-down from the leaves shown here. I tried rotating it in every orientation, but the only one that was visually satisfactory was a complete 180 degree turn. Canon 100-400 at 400 mm, 20 mm extension, ISO 400, f/16, 1/200 second (manual mode), 550EX Flash EV +2/3, monopod with Arca-Swiss ballhead and Wimberley Sidekick.
