We have frequently heard about the venomous Fer de Lance during our trips to Costa Rica, and were always on the lookout for them. This was the first time we saw one in the wild. Our guide, Julio, found it on the grounds of our Lodge at Maquenque one evening, and we photographed it just before dinner. Interestingly, it was right near the small swimming pool they had there, and in the same exact spot where we had seen a Red Eyed Tree Frog the evening before.
