This is a more "typical" looking marine iguana, and this shot was taken during our first afternoon island trip. The frequent white coloration on the tops of their heads is actually salt. Like many other iguanas, they possess a "salt gland" located between their eyes and nostrils, and the salt is periodically ejected in a "sneezing" action. They also do this if threatened.
