These were interesting, fairly large, insects, that we saw while hiking on several lava fields, with their coloration contrasting nicely against the normally dark or black rock. I should have brought knee-pads for this trip, as quite often I needed to get down on the rock to get a decent shooting angle for many subjects, and because of its volcanic origin, this surface was typically rough and often quite sharp as well.
