We knew we didn't have a lot of time to spend in the area, so after checking in at our Hotel at Kaka Point, we did some exploring along the coast. It was amazing how foggy it was at the coast (including Roaring Bay, where Yellow-eyed Penguins come ashore), and how clear it was when we headed inland toward Surat Bay. By the time we got there, it was hot and sunny, and we worked up a sweat walking along the beach, finding quite a few Hooker Sea Lions scattered like giant rocks along the beach.
