During the heat of the day, the Sea Lions just lay around the beach, throwing sand on themselves, and are not too interesting as photographic subjects. I considered getting some nice tight head-shots, but when looking through the viewfinder, saw their mouths and heads almost covered with flies, so I decided otherwise. Fortunately, every once in a while, one of them would get up, stretch or yawn, and walk a few feet before resuming their sunbathing, giving me a chance to shoot something that didn't just look like a big, brown boulder.
