We spotted these birds in a wide variety of locations. I had never seen one before, but guessed it was some kind of magpie. We checked the books to confirm it as the Black-billed Magpie. We were driving down the road in the LaMar Valley, spotted one, and stopped the car to try and photograph it. It took off, we followed, and we went back and forth for a while. It must have spotted something tasty on the road, and landed. We stopped up the road a ways, and I slowly walked back toward it. It eventually took off, and I snapped a number of frames as it flew by me.
